Saturday morning we were able to explore our new home at Cabo Lopez.

The Amazon CARES property at Cabo Lopez is home not only to volunteers during their stay in Iquitos, but also to about 40 dogs that are up for adoption.
While all the dogs were very playful and sweet, there was one adoptee that we all grew very fond of.

That morning we helped walk the dogs and got an idea of what it takes to run a dog shelter in the Amazon.

We walked the dogs down to the river so that they could run and play and get some exercise.

Saturday was our first official day off, so we headed to Iquitos to do some exploring and some shopping.

The boat ride from Cabo Lopez to Iquitos provided us with a genuine picture of life in Peru.
Before exploring the Boulevard, we made a quick stop at the Amazon CARES clinic.

All that shopping made us hungry! We had a wonderful dinner right on the Boulevard at a restaurant called Dawn On The Amazon.
